Daniel van Hoogstraten leads For Our Future Ohio as the Deputy State Director, a role he’s held since 2019, after serving as the organization’s Communications Director in Ohio since 2017.
Since launching in 2016, For Our Future Ohio has held conversations with nearly 700,000 Ohioans about why engaging in elections can have an impact on issues that matter to them, partnered with dozens of like-minded, community-based organizations on direct voter contact and issue advocacy programs, and has established itself as a leader in communications and innovative digital organizing tactics.The group has organized voters from Youngstown to Cincinnati, contributing to U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown’s re-election, and the highest levels of African-American voter turnout in the Midwest in 2018.
Prior to joining For Our Future, Daniel worked on Capitol Hill and political campaigns across the country. He served as Communications Director to two senior members of the U.S. House of Representatives — Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ), the top Democrat on the the House Energy Commerce Committee, and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC). He has held political and communications roles on various campaigns, including Senior Communications Advisor at the Ohio Democratic Party and Communications Director for the West Virginia Democratic Party. Daniel was also a part of a small government affairs team in D.C. focused on energy and agriculture policy. The Columbus, Ohio resident is a graduate of Wake Forest University.
